How about starting a Grassroots Interfaith Group – aka - the “GIG”
The Springfield Higher Education Ministry Association (SHEMA) is seeking students interested in forming a student organization for interfaith sharing and understanding in a safe environment. WHY?
To bring an interfaith perspective to spirituality. To learn from and see one another with spiritual eyes. To foster relationships and understandings that bring peace in our lives together both here and wherever we may come to find ourselves in this world.

- Sharing the “Golden Rule” from our various faith traditions
- News from home – exploring how international news portrays world events differently.
- Faith Night Discussion: What is Peace & can Justice bring it?
- Hold a “micro-credit” party to jump start an entrepreneur in a poor country.
- Faith Night Discussion: How gender roles are affected by culture & faith
- Celebration of World Religions Day
- Science, Evolution & Creationism – What our Faith tells us & our perspectives.
- Faith Night Discussion: What my faith says about mankind’s central problem.
- Movie night – enjoy a movie and conversation on spiritual/theological themes presented.
- Potential screenings : Whale Rider, Blade Runner, Simon Birch, Pleasantville
- Faith Night Discussion: What happens after death?
- Opportunity to visit local houses of worship & meet with spiritual leaders.
- Mission trip to serve area persons or not-for-profit groups in need of assistance.
